AN OVERVIEW
|
Although the
rest of the Homestead is smoke free,
smoking is permitted in the Library
|
Guests
have the use of the entire Homestead, including the formal Drawing Room
and Library. For conversation, reading, pre-dinner or after dinner drinks,
these rooms are the ideal location. Both have open fireplaces and
comfortable seating.
The decoration in the Drawing Room has been
designed around an original hand painted frieze over two columns set in a
bay window which contains two curved
E F Troy
leadlight windows picturing almond blossom, birds and butterflies.
With an antique French Aubusson carpet, fine
antiques, original artworks and oil paintings, French Rose marble
fireplace, the room is elegant and feminine.
The
Library has more the atmosphere of a gentleman’s club, with William Morris
wallpaper and curtain fabrics. The original wood graining of oak, bird’s
eye maple and tortoiseshell complements the antique mahogany partners’
desk and oak break front bookcase, Ethiopian parchment paintings, antique
prints and etchings.
The Homestead contains a large and eclectic selection of
over 2,000 books. Daily newspapers, magazines and periodicals are provided.
Satellite television is available in a separate sitting room. Internet
connection is available throughout the homestead.
